From minerals to pixel: The screen as an alchemical garden

Marie Garreyn (author)
Published 24 Apr 2025

The screen is defined as an interface
inbetween 2 worlds
a limit between 2 systems
It sends us to digital realities, but a screen is
more than an interface
it s a garden
A cultivated landscape where minerals
transform into light

Beyond the data, beyond the image, beyond
the information lies a deeper transformation;
an alchemy of matte.

silicium
indium
europium
terbium
gallium
aluminum

Extracted form the earth, refined throug fire;
once alchemists turned metal into gold, now we
turn minerals into pixels.

Rock becomes light
Dust becomes dreams

Walking through light and forgetting the ground
let’s explore this alchemical garden
where magic is material.

big thanks to silver for the sound design
